US Congress seeks small claims track for copyright claims • The Register: 'Technology has allowed millions more people to share their craft, but most independent creators can ill afford lawyers. The giant internet platforms have amassed their wealth largely through ensuring people don’t assert their property rights. So cheaper access to justice is a long overdue reform that should keep everyone happy.

EFF sues US government, saying copyright rules on DRM are unconstitutional | Ars Technica

EFF sues US government, saying copyright rules on DRM are unconstitutional | Ars Technica: 'Since the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) became law in 1998, it has been a federal crime to copy a DVD or do anything else that subverts digital copy-protection schemes.Soon, government lawyers will have to show up in court to defend those rules. Yesterday, the Electronic Frontier Foundation filed a lawsuit (PDF) claiming the parts of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act that deal with copy protection and digital locks are unconstitutional.'

I love a lively debate.

Copyright chaos: Why isn’t Anne Frank’s diary free now? | Ars Technica
Copyright chaos: Why isn’t Anne Frank’s diary free now? | Ars Technica: 'Anne Frank was a teenager who is now known the world over for her diary of life in hiding during the German occupation of the Netherlands during World War II. She died in February or March 1945, at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp where was she held, shortly before it was liberated. Since the applicable term of copyright in the EU is 70 years after the death of a writer, this means that her famous diary should now be in the public domain.'
Lawrence Lessig was right more than once.
